Hi Guys
I'm presently upgrading a couple of Beijing-based net connections to the new 20mbps fiber available everywhere (for $220 per year! ha!) so the current VPN contracts we have that yield about 2mbps out of the old 4mbps connections won't cut it anymore. I'm thinking that the only not terribly expensive solution is to buy a VPS and set it up as a web server for our business needs as well as loading it up with openVPN with a couple of static IPs. Obviously having it being able to hit 100mbps or so is quite important, as well as a low latency to China. Beyond that, I have no idea what else is required or how easy this is for me to organize. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Nothing really to do with China, but obviously those 20mbps connections are quite useless if its' only fixed to Chinese fake internet. I'm not sure also how easy the set up would be. I see tutorials around the net with varying degrees of difficulty but nothing to describe how the experience compares with just buying a VPN connection for 10-20$/month. Also many VPS providers don't mention too many details about speed, beyond maybe 'burst' speeds. That scares me a little.
