Do I need two doctors appointments to get the two required referrals for abotion on NHS?

I need an abortion and it is my understanding that I need two referrals from separate doctors to get one. I've made an appointment at my local doctors, but do I need to make another after to get another referral? How does it work because this is the first time I've done anything like this.
